HI, I am trying to build a cable test set that an apprentice started for his college project, it's got a fair bit of money sunk into it already so it's a shame to just
stop and throw it away so I am finishing it off.
So anyway, one of the cable tests it does is to check for the presence of a...
Always use the centre.
This allows best rotation and pick and place file output.
If you use pin1 then the assembly dept will have to first figure out which is pin 1 then adjust the origin to the centre for the placement machine.
ISTR that CADSTAR cannot display pad numbers for all pads, although if you hover the mouse over a pad it does display it.
You have the option "first pad" to change the colour of pad #1, this is in colours/highlights and should apply for both the design editor & viewer.
Most of the methods mentioned I have been able to do in Cadstar by Zuken, including the wire stitching as you call it (Cadstar calls them jumpers).
However I am sure that all these manufacturers are not using Cadstar, ISTR Philips did.
They change their tools from time to time (retaining a seat...
add another node onto that net or remove it for now.
is the guard ring going to be connected to mounting holes?
If so make a part that has a symbol and component for the mounting holes and connect them to the net.
Make alternative components for different sized mounting holes, some with plating...
OK I'm going off memory here, its been a few years.
What version of CADSTAR is this?
First thing I would do is stop doing exactly what your doing.!
There is an error where an assignment has lost it's name (its blank) and the editor was not programmed for this instance.
Open the symbol only...
Generally the manufacturer will recognise that your trying to make a slot and use a router bit in that position.
You could always draw it as the correct size/width line on a separate layer and call it "slots" as a Gerber, identify plated/non plated slots by different layers/files.
I'm not even sure that there are courses in basic PCB layout available.
Generally what you can get is application specific, how to use that application courses.
Yes I think your right, I cannot see how to convert a shape into a cutout of another shape - but then I have not used it for 3 years.
Cutouts must be wholly within the outer line and both be closed shapes.
As for the shapes, have a play with "Trim/Merge" on the net/shape tab.
When it does not...
draw an area for the outside shape.
draw a cutout, select the area and then draw the inner shape.
Shift select it to confirm that its all 1 thing.
choose the properties, select the layer on.
To keep copper out it will be a no routes area.
However, that also means you cannot have routes within...
Sorry for not getting back sooner.
1) you can make your own map, one per PCB, one per 2 layer, 1 per 4 layer - whatever you want :)
2) cutouts in the board - yes that is correct.
For the board outline - ONLY the board outline should be on the layer, if you want holles in the board then they...
I remember the video, I cannot remember if it was me or Bob that made it, most likely Bob. (I forgot a lot.)
DXF import is actually very easy if you forget all the stuff about trying to import the DXF as a PCB.
Instead import it as a simple drawing and then afterwards convert the outlines to...
Yes, ISTR You can do this depending upon what version CADSTAR you use.
There are documentation attributes that can be made, then you place that attribute in the symbol.
Then once in the design you can change the attribute value by double clicking on it or bringing up the attribute editor.
For...
